Entry 4---- Romantic Relationships?

"I Love Him" ("Are they finally getting together?")
"Hes a dick!" "Its not you its me"
"I Love Her" "It shouldn't be this hard"
"I'm so Happy" "I want some space"

("Are they still together?") "Together forever"
"You are my everything"
("I'd be so much better for them") "Shes just so clingy"
"He never listens" "She doesn't understand"
"I want you" "He never tells me anything"

Romantic Relationships are confusing enough between the people directly involved, all the mixed feelings, misunderstandings, conflicting opinions, the petty little arguments only couples could have. Yet though it all you stay together in most instances.
But then, on top of that, a relationship doesn't just involve the two of you the way it should. Friends get involved, passing judgement on the two of you Family hover over your shoulders waiting for the worst to happen. Roumers start to appear and spread that have been born out of untruthful observation and dodgy interpretation. And on top of all that there can often be others who start trying to make a move on you or your other half.

So keeping a relationship going is a constant battle,
between your own thoughts, the two of you, and all the rest of the mess orbiting the pair of you.

So Why bother?

If all this 'mess'occurs due to a relationship why is it that so many people have them? After all does the effort you have to put in realy come through with rewards?
And at the end of the day, what do you realy gain (that you can't get from one night stands)

Well, it appears that a long lasting relationship makes people happier and I don't mean
'Oh wow a puppy'
happy I'm infering that there is a deeper happiness. A kind that comes from feling safe and protected. Much like you do as a child. Its the drive of wanting to have someone who you know will always be there for you, that you know you can trust and rely upon, no matter what the situation is. Its a primal desire that most humans abide to.

Deep down no one wants to be alone, they want that same feeling they had as children. Perfect security and practicaly meaningless worries.

Now if I may be so bold as to make a statement, the thing that holds the relationship and humans togther is LOVE!
Thats right, I said that ever so cliched word. Humans want to have Love and affection showered upon them. This can be made apparent in many diverse ways, as the human race is diverse, but often, the thing that will drive a human forward is the quest for whatever kind of love they seek.

Love is part of a deeper set of emotions that are highly evident in our society, classicaly it is seen to tie in with compassion, mercy, pitty and all the rest of that nonsence.
However first and formost
Love is Selfish.
It wants another being or many beings to latch onto, idolose and to share with. This, depending on the induvidual, is expressed in diffrent ways.

This is why romantic relationships stay together, through the hardships, misunderstandings and roumers because deep down the entity known as love is stubborn and wont let go without a fight. No matter how bad everything else around it is.

Love likes to be understood and therefor so do humand.
Find a human who your love wants to idolise and with a bit of luck their love will want to idoloise you back and Bobs your uncle, a romantic relationship is born.
